Kia Ora

I’m originally from Osaka, Japan, and have called New Zealand home since 2017. I’m a yoga teacher and Women’s Circle facilitator based in Christchurch, where I create spaces for people to slow down, reconnect, and feel at peace.

My first visit to Kaikōura was with my partner, Shawn, and I instantly fell in love with this wild and beautiful corner of the South Island. There is something truly special about Kaikōura, and it has stayed close to my heart ever since.

Shawn, originally from Oregon, USA, is a marine scientist who studies the rich coastal ecosystem around Kaikōura. His PhD explored how the 2016 earthquake reshaped the marine environment, and he has spent countless hours diving the chilly waters, fishing from his small boat, and exploring the mountains. Kaikōura has become an important part of both our lives.

This home has its own story for us too. Before becoming the owners, we stayed here as guests with our energetic pup, Koa — and the three of us fell in love with it. The sweeping ocean and mountain views, the sense of space, the morning birdsong and crashing waves, and the unique location made our stay unforgettable.

Our hope is that you’ll experience this place the way we did — fall a little in love with Kaikōura, wake up to incredible sunrises and peaceful views, and leave with wonderful memories of your time here.
